Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about King Size Beds
What are the dimensions of a king size bed?
A standard UK king size bed measures 150cm wide by 200cm long (5ft by 6ft 6), which gives you loads more space than a double bed. That's an extra 15cm width - enough for proper comfortable sleeping whether you're on your own and love to stretch out, or sharing with a partner. Don't forget to add about 10cm all around for the actual bed frame, so you're looking at roughly 160cm by 210cm of floor space needed.
Will a king size bed fit in my bedroom?
Before you get too excited about your new king size bed (and we don't blame you), measuring is essential. You'll need at least 3 metres by 3.5 metres of floor space to fit the bed comfortably plus leave room to walk around. If you're planning bedside tables too, make sure you've got about 40cm either side of your bed. Most importantly, check your doorways, stairs, and any tight corners - there's nothing worse than getting a beautiful bed that won't actually make it to your bedroom!
What's the difference between wooden and painted king size beds?
Our wooden beds range from light and modern to rich and rustic, showing off all that gorgeous wood grain. Natural wood never goes out of style and gets better with age - proper timeless pieces that handle bedroom conditions brilliantly. Painted beds are made from tough acacia wood that takes paint beautifully and won't chip easily, plus they're perfect if you want to freshen up your bedroom's look with specific colours. Both feature lovely wooden details that add that special touch.
Do you have matching bedroom furniture for king size beds?
Every bed in our collection has matching furniture available - think bedside tables, wardrobes, and dressing tables. You can go for the full matching set if you love that coordinated look, or mix things up with different pieces from our range. It's your bedroom, so make it work for you! Having matching pieces does help create that pulled-together feel, but mixing styles can be just as lovely if that's more your thing.
Is there storage space under king size beds?
Yes, all our beds have loads of space underneath that's perfect for storage boxes - brilliant for hiding away spare bedding, winter clothes, or whatever else needs a home. The height gives you plenty of clearance for under-bed storage solutions, which is really handy in bedrooms where wardrobe space is limited. It's amazing how much you can tuck away under there whilst keeping everything easily accessible.
What bedding do I need for a king size bed?
You'll need king size sheets, duvet covers, and a king size duvet for that cloud-like feeling. The duvet is particularly important - a double duvet on a king size bed just won't give you proper coverage. Add some scatter cushions and maybe a cosy throw blanket for chilly nights, and you're sorted. Whether you're going for modern minimalist or cosy cottage vibes, the right bedding really makes the difference.
Are king size beds suitable for single sleepers?
They're brilliant for single sleepers who love space to stretch out! You get all that lovely room to spread out, change sleeping positions without feeling cramped, and there's plenty of space for reading, working on a laptop, or just lounging comfortably. Plus, if you ever have guests staying over or decide to share in the future, you've already got the space sorted. It's like having a luxury hotel experience in your own bedroom.
How do I choose between different king size bed styles?
Think about your bedroom's overall look and how you want to feel in the space. Love that natural, timeless appeal? Our wooden beds bring warmth and character that develops beautifully over time. Want something that matches specific décor or colour schemes? Painted beds give you that flexibility whilst still having quality wooden construction. Consider your other furniture too - you can either coordinate everything or create an interesting mix of styles that reflects your personality.
